She's here!

It's been such a long wait since 2006, when we planned to breed our Tansy to the one and only Lenny's Horse. But finally our patience has been rewarded by the arrival of Quince.

Here is the little imp at 5 days old. She will shed out to black and white, though she looks a little brown right now.

Though with more white, she is marked very similarly to Daisy with the eyeliner, black "lipstick" and white mane through black ears. These markings are my favorite (I call them "Goth markings"!) but I had hardly dared hope we'd get them this time. She is also homozygous for tobiano so, in time, all her foals will also be tobiano.

But of far more importance than her markings is that she has lovely conformation. We had hoped for something a little special when we planned this breeding but have been rewarded far more than we deserve. That she is the sweetest, kindest filly imaginable is the icing on an adorable little cake!

She is also by far our best mover. Watch for her in the show ring!

Quince at 11 months. The Wisconsin snow was a little unkind to her feather
but I'm pleased to see that it is coming in nicely again now

Here are my two "Goth girls" saying "hello"!
Quince at 11 months on the left, Daisy at 4 years

She has surprised us a great deal by how tall she is. At 11 months she is already over 14.1hh (and her hindquarters are over 14.2hh)
There seems little doubt, at this early stage, that she will go over 15hh.

There she goes, trotting off down the hill.
A gangly 11 months again.
